The Centre Hall Library Association was established in 1993. There was no library in Centre Hall, but that was the point. This group of volunteers began the long process involved in bringing a library to the community. The Association spent the next four years working with the Centre Hall Borough, the Penns Valley Area School District, and the Centre County Library & Historical Museum selecting a site, designing a building, and tirelessly raising funds to make the library a reality.

The Centre Hall Area Branch Library opened its doors in 1997. The 2500 square foot building, located next to the Centre Hall Elementary School, housed a collection of approximately 6,000 books and functioned as a branch of the Centre County Library & Historical Museum.

Our Mission

The Association envisions an educated, connected community of readers, learners, doers, and dreamers. To achieve this, we support the Centre Hall Library in transforming lives by educating, inspiring, and connecting people.

Here's just a small sampling of what we have achieved over the last 25 years

  1. Worked with Centre County officials, Penns Valley Area School District, and Centre County Library & Historical Museum to design and plan for the original library

  2. Raised funds to build the library, including obtaining a mortgage for a portion of the costs

  3. Held fundraisers including golf tournaments, books sales, hoagie and bake sales, pumpkin sales, phone-a-thons, BBQ sales, haunted hay rides and annual steak dinners.

  4. Paid off the 20 year mortgage in 14 years!!

  5. Continue to raise funds to support the library with purchase of DVD’s, homeschool resources, large print books and more
